Galleries are some of my favourite places. A calm, free-to-enter, often publicly-funded space to wander and contemplate, a gallery will massively enrich anywhere you put it. I love the Baltic in Newcastle, the Laing holds some of my favourite John Martin paintings, and my trips to various art galleries from London to Sunderland have been rich and interesting.
I've not been taught how to analyse visual art, really, so these essays tend to act more as general poetic musings than well-researched arguments. They're the thoughts and feelings that come to the foreground as I find myself moved by a particular image.
